🇨🇦 A night on the town in NOTL!
👋 Hey there, fellow Notler!
🎉 It’s Friday, folks! 🎉
How was your week? Mine was great!
🥳 First things first, I have to give a big congratulations to Stephanie Reid for winning the $100 gift card to the Irish Harp from our April trivia contest!
I asked Stephanie to send a brief bio about herself and what she loves about the town:
“I’m a recent graduate from Niagara College, NOTL campus. I love nature, adventure, and a good time overall. After being here for a little over two years, I am just starting to really enjoy the area and have curated a list of places I am excited to try, including The Irish Harp Pub. Oast House Brewery and Avondale Dairy are among my favourites. :) My favourite things about NOTL are the wineries (haha) and the serenity. The views are impeccable 👌🏽.”
Congrats again, Stephanie! Thank you to everyone who entered, and stay tuned for next week’s newsletter when we announce our next trivia giveaway!

🌅 The perfect weeknight in town
In order to give away a gift card to The Harp, you need a gift card! 😂 Last night, we used this as an excuse to head over there for dinner, as this local spot never disappoints.
In our welcome emails, I must say that at least 20% of you have mentioned The Irish Harp as one of your favourite spots for a pint and a hearty meal. I couldn’t agree more.
Of course, we enjoyed some Steak and Guinness pie, rich in flavour and very filling, and topped it off with a couple of Guinnesses to make it just right.
If you’ve never been to The Harp, you need to add this to your list of spots to visit in NOTL this summer.
After dinner, we headed over to 11th Post (run by Two Sisters Vineyards).
FYI, they just celebrated their 1-year anniversary! 🎉
This place might not be a regular in our dinner rotation, but when it comes to desserts and cocktails, you can’t go wrong.
I had an Old Fashioned made the traditional way, and it was just what I was looking for. The vibes at 11th Post are modern yet inviting. You could go there for a special occasion, or the lounge area is perfect for a sweet treat and a cocktail to end the day, just as we did this evening.
Since the weather was fantastic, the only way to end the evening was by watching the sunset before heading home.
Ryerson Park is our go-to spot for a great sunset view, offering plenty of space.
While there are several other spots around town to catch the sunset, we’ve found this one to be our favourite by far.
There’s nothing better than having the dog with us as we end another day feeling blessed to live in such a great town, with the sound of the waves in the background.
I was so busy enjoying the sunset that I forgot to take a picture until the last minute. I’ll make sure to get some better ones in the future 😉.
A special fundraiser for Fort Mississauga
This week, one of our readers wanted to let us know about an upcoming fundraiser event.
On Friday, May 24th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada are hosting a guided tour at the Fort Mississauga National Historic Site. This should be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the rich history of our town, including the tale of the first Great Lakes lighthouse and the critical roles played by local figures during significant periods in our history.
The event will also offer a peek inside the old stone tower, which is usually closed to the public, and there will be stories shared about the brave soldiers who trained at Camp Niagara. Plus, your ticket includes a tour of the tower, a free glass of wine, and a commemorative wine glass to take home!
Tickets are $50 for adults and $20 for children, and purchasing one not only gets you a great evening out but also helps support ongoing restoration projects at Fort Mississauga and the Friends of Fort George programs. You can grab your tickets here.
Let's support a great cause and delve into our local history together! Hope to see many of you there.

This section doesn’t need much of an introduction, but I had this sent to me this week and thought it was something worth sharing.
It’s very neat to see the falls and the beauty we have in our own backyard displayed in this way.

This year, our goal is to involve community members in curating some of the content we share with our audience. Do you know someone or something in our community that should be featured?
Please let us know by replying to this email or by sending their information to [email protected].
That’s all for today, folks! Have a great weekend! 👋
